They are amongst the world’s most famous people. Their film profiles had been entered into the biggest and most prestigious arts film festival in the world: The 10th. FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DU FILM SUR L’ART.
They are the most outstanding programmes from BBC’s ‘Arena’ ‘Omnibus’ and London Weekend’s ‘South Bank Show’ offered to the ‘Best Portrait of an Artist’ competition and directed by such luminaries as Ken Russell, Tony Palmer and Derek Bailey.
The film I directed and photographed, about a little known artist from Clydebank, called Tom McKendrick was also entered into the same category by Channel Four.
Much to our amazement in this David and Goliath contest, the Festival Jury voted our film, ‘SUBMARINE – THINGS SENSED BUT UNSEEN’ the ‘Best Portrait of an Artist’.
‘Submarine’ went on to win other trophies including’ Special Jury Award’ at the Atlantic Film Festival for ‘Excellence in Craft Techniques and Historical Narrative’.
