Pre the Joe Dunton Empire Days – filming ‘The Quiet Country’ in Galloway, South–West Scotland. I would have been 26 Joe I think a year older.
We waited a week for the weather to change, during which time we enjoyed intense planning conversations about our futures.
I was already a freelance D.O.P. Joe was still at Sammy’s and I spent most of my time persuading him to go freelance – time well spent.
We’ve remained good friends ever since and often communicated, but I never saw him again.
